The Aggies of Texas A&M returned to the Lone Star State this weekend for their first conference games since early December. They would take on the Texas State Bobcats in a home-and-home series that would have the Friday match-up taking place in Austin at The Pond Hockey Club. The Aggies would begin the game with an offensive front and never look back, scoring 4 in the first, 3 in the second, and 6 in the third. A four goal night from sophomore Jarrett Taylor, along with two goal efforts from senior Nick Early, junior Huston Svondrk, and freshman Kyle Mills gave the Aggies more than enough to put away the Bobcats. Goals were also scored by seniors Gary Russell and Garrett Finn, along with junior Jack Greer. Freshman Joseph Reynolds would stop all 19 shots he faced for his second career shutout.

Saturday night would see the Aggies take another lead into the first intermission , 2-0, after junior Brandon Steele would open the scoring with his first of the season and a power-play goal by sophomore Justin Rueve. Sophomore Colin Butler, who had 5 assists in game one of the series, would score for the Aggies early in the second on a goal assisted by freshman newcomer George Colts-Tegg, his first point in an Aggie sweater. Texas State would then score their only goal of the weekend but two quick goals from Svondrk and freshman Hank Rooney. On the Hank Rooney goal, Texas State goaltender Matt Padgitt would suffer an injury after a puck hit him in the face mask that would require an extended break to ensure he was fit to continue. When the teams returned to the ice for a 23-minute third period, The Aggies would cap off the weekend with goals form Butler and Taylor and take home an 8-1 win. Sophomore Brydon Gillilan would pick up the win in net.

A&M will be at Spirit Ice Arena next weekend once again to host the University of North Texas Mean Green on Friday and Saturday at 7:30 and the Loyola Marymount University Lions on Sunday at 11:00 AM.
