UTSA Roadrunners (2) VS. Texas A&M University Aggies (3)

The Aggies returned from the winter break to take on UTSA in their second series against the Roadrunners. Both teams remembered the challenging games that took place in October, and neither was willing to compromise.

UTSA kicked off the scoring about halfway through the first period, and the score remained 1-0 until the beginning of the second period. Nathan Banks took the puck on a breakaway and was all but tackled from behind; as he was shoved, he pushed the puck into the net with 18:46 remaining, then slid into the goalie and the net—tie game.

The Aggies kept up the intensity, and Nick Xenakis won a faceoff and took it on a breakaway. He scored a short-handed goal high glove side. The second period ended with the Aggies ahead, 2-1.

As the third period began, the Aggies were fired up and fought for a bigger lead. 1:41 into the period, Justin Cooley took a quick shot off of a rebound by Xenakis and scored low glove side. He pushed the Aggies ahead, 3-1.

The Roadrunners weren’t about to quit—six minutes later, they scored a power play goal and brought the score to 3-2. After twelve tense minutes of play, the Aggies claimed the win, 3-2.

The Aggies would like to welcome new players Steven McHale, Nick Kolodziej, and James Sullivan to the team; they all played spectacularly in their debut A&M game!
