Saturday, November 8, 2008

Texas A&M University Aggies (3) VS. University of Central Oklahoma Broncos (10)

On our Saturday evening match-up, both teams came to the rink with more energy through a very up-tempo game.

Again, the Aggies started the game’s scoring at 16:57. With A&M moving through the neutral zone, the puck was dumped deep into Bronco territory. Following a scramble behind the net, Nick Xenakis gained control. An accurate pass to Dustin Roark moving towards the net, a low post shot, Aggies up 1-0.

Less than one minute later, the Broncos respond with five unanswered goals.

With 5:32 remaining in the period, the Aggies responded with their own tally. A&M controled the puck as they entered the Bronco zone. Michael Molge moved the puck to Nick Xenakis in the low slot. A quick hard shot and Dustin Roark’s extra effort banged home the rebound to put the Aggies on the board again, 5-2.

This momentum was short lived and the Broncos finished the period scoring, 6-2.

Both teams continued to battle aggressively during the second period with the Broncos notching two scores, making it 8-2.

The Aggies never quit, and at 13:13, scored the first goal of the 3rd period. Defenseman John Rortvedt gained possession at the Bronco blue line. As the puck was moved along the boards to Molge behind the net, a quick pass found Roark, score 8-3.

The Broncos finished the game scoring with two tallies, making the final score 10-3.

We congratulate the University of Central Oklahoma Broncos on their victories this weekend – we enjoyed the test of programs and strategies. We also hope to continue this relationship in the future.
